When purchasing an ebike, here’s a list of the items that you MUST check before making a purchase.
- Check with the owner that the ebike’s ownership is transferable to you name on onemotoring website. This is the most important part as if you’re caught riding an ebike that has been deregistered, it is a chargeable offence.
- Check with the owner on his/her onemotoring account that he/she does not have an existing fine with the ebike as the fine would be carried forward to you if you do not check this.
- Ensure that all the ebike’s functions are working well such as the brakes, front & rear lights, folding mechanism (if applicable), keys to unlock and remove the battery (if applicable) and if there are any other issues such as shaky stem present. If there is any thing dissatisfactory with the bike, we would encourage you to come up with a proposition with the owner at your own discretion.
- Finally, you should test ride the ebike to ensure that the bike runs smoothly. Check that there are no loud sounds coming from the motor, as this usually means the motor gears are damaged and require replacement.
