A compact ride
Chirrey Y1+ is the one and only 12” compact ebike in the market. This ebike is designed for the daily commuter and the size of the Y1+ is equivalent to the size of a folded ebike measuring at only 1.07m when folded. The Y1+ can fit comfortably into the boot of any car or conveniently brought onto trains and buses.
Made for the commute
There are mostly 2 types of individuals who would benefit from the Chirrey Y1+: riders that are seeking to work in other zones such as Downtown Zones and would commute via public transport to maximize their earnings, and riders that are seeking an LTA Approved Ebike to assist them in their first as last mile, storing their ebike in their own personal space in the event that one does not wish to leave it unattended in public areas.
Chirrey Y1+ is the first ebike that is equipped with key ignition, rear suspension, front lights and it flaunts rear LED lights along with the braking lights feature all together! It is available in black with red highlights, or red with black highlights, although I think that the red with black highlights stands out nicely! Progressively, more ebikes are using disc brakes and the Y1+ is no different, it also uses front and rear disc brakes.
The Y1+ uses no ordinary battery, but a LG lithium-ION battery and just like every other ebike, it has gone through a strict quality test to ensure your safety. Chirrey Y1+ has 3 pedal assist modes, mode 1 & 2 is most suited for flat ground and to conserve battery. Mode 3 is recommended when going uphill as it maximises its motor output. All in all, the Chirrey Y1+ can travel up to 85km distance.
Based on the ebike review that I’ve done on Youtube, some of the concerns that I’ve experienced are that the handle bar can be folded, however it couldn’t be adjusted in terms of height. Secondly would be that the width of the handlebar is rather short which would restrict riders placing more essential accessories on the handlebar. Lastly, the battery is built-in and cannot be removed. However the Y1+ is so compact that even if one were to place it indoors, it wouldn’t take up too much space.
I would recommend this ebike for riders whom are seeking an alternative other than riding bicycles and for a leisure ride during the weekends in areas of Singapore that are harder to reach by public transport as it’s compact in size when folded.
From a leisure rider point of view, out of 5 stars, I would rate this ebike 4 out of 5 for it’s compact size and multiple essential features for an ebike, notably the rear suspension.
