From 3rd July 2023, consumers in Singapore will be charged $0.05 for each plastic bag, at more than 400 major supermarkets and other popular stores including 7-11, Guardian and Watsons. This is in line with the nation’s push towards sustainability, done here through the reduced use of single-use plastics. Though the charge seems negligible at first, it will eventually snowball if left unchecked.
To illustrate this, if one uses an average of 4 plastic bags a day, this will add up to $0.20 paid daily. In a year, this number balloons to $67.20.
In contrast, our ALPAKA Tote Bag is priced at $69 and is good for multiple years of usage. With a magnetic closure and internal pockets for organisation, along with its weatherproof exterior, the ALPAKA Tote Bag is perfect for your everyday carry, grocery run or shopping bag.
